September 22 2017, Los Angeles – The Departments of Public Health in both Los Angeles and San Diego have declared outbreaks of Hepatitis A. The virus is primarily contracted due to poor hygienic conditions such as inadequate sanitation, and most cases in this current outbreak have been in populations of people who are homeless or use illicit drugs. However, sexual contact is also a potential transmission pathway. Therefore, the FSC is asking adult performers in Southern California to be aware and be cautious.

Vaccinations are available to protect against transmission.

FSC is not currently aware of any known cases of infections among adult performers, but we urge performers in Southern California and elsewhere to be extra conscious of maintaining adequate hygiene particularly before and during filming, and encourage performers to get vaccinated.

Visit the LA Department of Public Health for more information on Hepatitis A and how to prevent transmission.
