FSC Meets With Congress Over Banking Discrimination

On December 8, FSC was able to secure meetings with key House and Senate offices to begin discussions about banking fairness for the adult industry. We spoke openly about the discrimination our members face, as well as the higher rates attached to adult transactions. Members of both parties regarded our situation seriously, and nearly everyone committed to help find a solution.

To say that this is historic is a bit of an understatement. We are now engaged in a process that could create stable banking for the adult industry and its workers, and hopefully end the predatory fees charged by credit cards and financial services. In the coming weeks, we’ll be working to better document the issues faced by our members, in order to provide both stories and clear data to the legislators on the scope of the issue. This is crucial to the success of this project.

We encourage everyone to join us on January 12, 2023 at the FSC Summit on the last day of XBIZ LA. We are hosting a special banking discrimination panel and strategy session, where we will be able to more fully discuss the DC trip, and what lies ahead.

Industry representatives on this trip included FSC Executive Director Alison Boden, FSC Board Chair Jeffrey Douglas, FSC Director of Public Affairs Mike Stabile, creator Allie Eve Knox and Spankchain founder Ameen Soleimani This spring, after the new Congress is sworn in, we are looking toward more meetings, and bringing more of you to Washington.

In the meantime, if you are not an FSC member, join now. If you’re already a member, consider giving to our FSC Action Fund. We were only able to make this trip thanks to last minute donations, pro bono work and creativity. We will need more than that if we’re going to move what we’ve started to the finish line.
