FSC Statement on Weinstein's Refusal to Meet with Performers

Eric Paul Leue, Executive Director of the Free Speech Coalition, on the decision by Michael Weinstein to meet with performers and performer groups:

"Once again, Michael Weinstein has refused to meet with the actual performers who will be affected by his terrible initiative. Though Weinstein claims to be fighting on behalf of performers, he couldn't be bothered responding to the head of the industry's largest performer organization. Not an email. Not a phone call. Not a meeting. This pending initiative will impact thousands of performers lives, and expose them to harassment, stalking, profiteering, and endless litigation. Mr. Weinstein is welcome to ignore the pleas of the California Democratic Party, the California Republican Party, the SF AIDS Foundation, AIDS Project LA and the many other healthcare advocates who have opposed this measure. But he is not welcome to ignore the board of APAC, the very performers he purports to speak for. Why is he willing to waste millions of dollars from his non-profit on a flawed measure that only he supports?

Today was beyond shameful, and we once again call on the board of AHF to #removeweinstein, and join with performers in calling for Weinstein to pull this initiative before the deadline on June 30."
